Ernst liked to bath and play at the beach of the lake Vättern. This lake is known for its cold water. But the beach is wonderful. When Ernst was a child you could swim if you managed to hold yourself swimmingly between two specific sandbanks. All children exercised with floats on their upper arms.
These floates were made by corks in clothes bags. When they felt safe they tried without the floats. Ernst was unlucky. When he tried to swim for the first time the water was extremly rapid and he flow away. At the last minute he grabbed a wooden bridge and saved himself.
