A funeral in the countryside in Sweden in the beginning of the last century was a big event, which sometimes run in three days. Ernst told us about a distant relative, uncle Henning Lundkvist from the parish of Rogberga. When this man died there was a long funeral.
The guests ate and drunk in three days. It was important to taste all cheesecakes. It could be ten different cheesecakes and you´ve to taste them all. You also have to eat breakfast, lunch and dinner. And pastry and cup-cakes. After the funeral in Rogberga Ernst was sick for several days.
Sometimes there was special bonbons in black paper. These events were called "grave beer". People who wasn´t invited to the "grave beer" came some days later on an after treat.
